Hopi Tewa potter Terran Naha
Polychrome jar with bird element and geometric design

A member of the Hopi-Tewa Corn Clan, Terran was born to parents Terry and Nona Naha in November, 1984. He grew up surrounded by some of today's finest Hopi-Tewa potters, although he says he learned most from his mom, Nona, and is learning more now working with Garrett Maho.

Terran didn't really get serious about making pottery until after his first son was born in 2001. Then he dove in and while he hasn't been a participant in many shows yet, his work is shown in places like the Heard Museum in Scottsdale and Andrea Fisher Fine Pottery in Santa Fe.

Terran says his favorite shapes to make are tiles, seed pots and jars. His favorite decorations are animals, birds and insects. He also told us his inspiration comes from doing what he most likes to do: hang out with his family at home. Making pottery allows him to do that.
